Dental Sleep Medicine
Did you know that we provide SNORING AND SLEEP APNEA therapy at Cornerstone Dental?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder characterized by repetitive episodes of upper airway obstruction that occur during sleep. Common symptoms often associated with OSA are habitual loud snoring and nocturnal breathing pauses, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and excessive daytime sleepiness. Dental sleep medicine is a field in dentistry dedicated to the use and research of oral appliance therapy for the management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Oral appliance therapy is a noninvasive alternative to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy. Oral appliances are commonly used to reposition the lower jaw forward to increase upper airway patency.
