Office History & Philosophy

Cornerstone Dental began in 1964 by Dr. Philip Bellomio. A Rochester native, he opened his office in a small building located at 465 Stone Road in the town of Greece.

Starting from scratch, he built a thriving practice until his untimely death on June 6, 1977. Dr. Anthony Colaruotolo took over the office two months later, becoming the youngest solo-practitioner in Monroe County at the age of 25.

After the retirement of a neighboring dentist, Dr. Joseph Costanza, the practice grew, as many of his patients became patients of Dr. Colaruotolo’s. This growth propelled the expansion of our 465 Stone Road facility in 1986.

Dr. Richard Sprague joined the practice in 1991, bringing along a following of patients which we have enjoyed treating over the years. In 1993, Dr. Daniel Palermo joined the practice with a strong contingent of family, friends and patients. Subsequently, with the addition of Dr. Palermo, the office was renamed Cornerstone Dental (play on words as it sat on the corner of Stone Road).

With two full-time doctors, we were able to increase our hours and services. The growth led to our new location at 3770 Mt. Read Boulevard in 2004. We relocated less than a mile from our previous office in order to continually serve our loyal neighborhood patients.

In 2007, Dr. Marc Malatesta joined the practice after completing his dental education in Buffalo, NY and Philadelphia, PA. A Rochester native, and a long time patient of Cornerstone Dental, he brought with him current, up-to-date treatment philosophies and a strong commitment to the community.

In 2008, Dr. Michael Andolina and his staff merged with the Cornerstone Dental family after 37 years of private practice. He had enjoyed a long career in helping the Greece community through the years and brought with him many loyal patients, family, and friends. After an additional two years with us, Dr. Andolina officially retired from the practice of dentistry in 2010.

In 2012, after 30 years of private practice, the office of Dr. Robert Smith merged with our office. Unfortunately, Dr. Smith was forced to retire shortly after his arrival here due to an untimely medical issue. Many of his patients continue treatment at our office.

In 2012-2013, we expanded our office into the available 1400 sq ft. formerly occupied by the Marino Income Tax Service company and welcomed Dr. John Agostinelli’s practice to the ever growing Cornerstone Dental family. Dr. Agostinelli maintained a private practice in Greece for 35 years. He decided to merge his practice with ours in an effort to continue to provide quality care with additional services and more convenient hours.

In the summer of 2015, after a wonderful 38 year career, Dr. Anthony Colaruotolo officially retired from the practice of dentistry. His wisdom and mentoring lives on through the many patients and families we will continue to treat.

Also, in the summer of 2015, Cornerstone Dental welcomed Dr. Matthew Valerio and Orthodontist, Dr. Michael Molisani to the practice. Both, Rochester natives, Dr.s’ Valerio and Molisani bring with them a new following of family and friends, new and current practice philosophies, and a desire to give back to the community in which they were raised. In 2016, Dr. Agostinelli retired, after 38 years of practice.

2017 brought a second physical location to our family practice. We merged with the practice of Dr. Daniel Livingston in Henrietta and can now serve the greater Rochester area in two locations.

In the summer of 2018, we welcomed the practice of Dr. Daniel Squilla. He maintained a private practice near Aquinas High School and merged his office with ours in order to enhance care to his loyal patients. He subsequently retired in the summer of 2019.
